Dr. David R Flemming, M.D.

Highly respected by the Monterey Peninsula medical community, Dr. Flemming has been treating patients here on the Central Coast for 30 years. He is known for his experience, knowledge, and compassion.

Dr. Flemming treats patients for conditions involving the kidneys, bladder, prostate, stones, birth control, incontinence, impotence, and cancer.

From an early age, Dr. Flemming was inspired by family and friends to explore the world of medicine. He attended the University of Oklahoma undergraduate program. He proceeded to attend the University of New Mexico Medical School, and joined the ranks of one of the pioneering institutions in the United States. Multiple papers and books have been written about the problem-based, patient-centered curriculum at the University of New Mexico Medical School. It served as the template for the development of the "5th Pathway" program at Harvard, as well as a similar program at McGill University in Montreal.

In his third year in medical school, the young Dr. Flemming made the decision to specialize in urology because of the variety of treatment technologies, and the prospect that most of the patients he treated – men, women, and children – could make full recoveries through the treatments he performed.

His extensive medical and surgical training has always been based on what is best for the patient. In the sphere of modern medicine, there are often multiple options for treatment and it is important to cater to the individuals’ needs. The "new" movement towards quality care and outcomes has been at the forefront of Dr. Flemming’s training and practice for 30 years.

While practicing all facets of urological surgery, he specializes in stone surgery, incontinence, prostate therapy (both benign and malignant), and other cancers. He has access to state of the art equipment including the most modern IMRT facility. He also has specialized training in complicated Pediatric Surgery, Advanced Pelvic Surgery and state of the art surgery for Erectile Dysfunction. He has an active Urologic Surgical Practice at Monterey Peninsula Surgery Centers.
